Many organizations, companies, and governments are starting to host their activities in the metaverse as a popular option. Norway serves as a recent ideal example, using the metaverse to establish a tax office.
On October 26, Norway will make its first venture into the metaverse. The Brnnysund Register Center, the Norwegian tax authority, disclosed intentions to establish a virtual office in the Decentraland metaverse during the event.
The management of several public registers and systems for the government’s electronic information exchange is the responsibility of the government-backed Brnnysund Register Center.
Norway Joins The Metaverse
In order to open a virtual office in one of the most well-known blockchain-powered metaverses, Decentraland, the Brnnysund Register Center has partnered with Big Four accounting firm Ernst & Young (EY).
The government organization in Norway plans to leverage the metaverse’s capability to connect with the next generation of users. Magnus Jones, the Nordic Breakthrough lead, made a statement on the innovation.
“Kudos once again to Norwegian authorities who dare to make moves to bring clarity in a complex landscape. Building further on issuing worlds first guidance on how to tax DeFi and also NFTs, and being a front runner in the crypto space in general.”
“More and more authorities see a clear need of being present at the platforms where mainly younger generations are both for tax and legal purposes with regards to information.”
Other Institutions And Authorities In The Metaverse
In the last several months, the metaverse has seen a significant influx of investments from governments and institutions. United Arab Emirates and Multiverse Labs joined together earlier this month to introduce a new city in the metaverse to promote tourism.
The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) declared last week that its metaverse was now fully operating. Interpol said that it will be able to provide immersive training programs to law enforcement organizations all around the world thanks to the new virtual environment.
