Friday Night Takeaway Ideas

If you are staying in and ordering take-away, but you’ve planned something a little more exciting, then why not do it in style?

Instead of going to the food store, why not create a deli tray?

You could cut the meat up into bitesize pieces to make it easy to eat, but if you want a bit of filling, then why not make mini sausage rolls?

To give it some authenticity, you can use your standard sausage roll recipe to make the sausage rolls.

You’ll be surprised at how easy this is to do!

You could also cut up the cheese and tomato to go inside the sausage rolls.

Simply cut out a tomato that matches the size of the sausage rolls and use the tomato for dipping or even to scoop the meat and cheese out of.

Butter chicken take away

Another idea for the takeaway delivery party that is happening this Friday night is the Butter chicken takeaway.

By looking at some recipes for the dish, you should be able to easily recreate the delicious dish.

Simply prepare the chicken and the sauce. And don’t forget the garlic naan bread.

You can add an element of surprise, by wrapping up the chicken in foil with the foil already in place.

You’ll then place the foil in the microwave for a few seconds. You’ll then remove it and wrap it in cling film and place it in the fridge.

And before you know it, it will be time to pop the Butter Chicken takeaway in the oven.

Pizza takeaway

Another idea is the takeaway pizza.

You can add lots of great toppings, but also get creative and use some of your favorite pizza toppings to make your takeaway just that bit better.

So why not make some cheese, tomato, garlic bread, and a huge dollop of mayo on your garlic bread.

You’ll get the extra bit of a treat that will be waiting for you on your doorstep.

Fancy cheese-style burgers or pizza?

If there’s one thing we love to do with our kids, it’s order pizza, both for delivery and take-away.

We don’t mind if they squabble over the center of the huge flatbread, because it means they get to use their cutlery.

However, we’ve all found out the hard way that ordering a takeaway will result in the dining room table being demolished the following day, so let’s go for something a bit healthier.

We’ve rounded up some quick and easy dishes that you can serve on a Friday night and leave you with a stash of leftovers for the weekend.

What can you make with potatoes?

Of course, you can always go with the classic cheese and tomato pizza.

However, if you fancy a change, some potatoes are ideal for this dish.

You could try roasting your potatoes, simply squeezing a little lemon juice over them, or preparing them like you would chips and baking them in the oven with the slices of onion.

If you’re going for a crispy, fried potato crust, then you can even leave your skins on.

Whatever you decide, the result is going to be a lovely crisp exterior, with the skin still attached, and super fluffy inside.

Lemon and chives potatoes with roasted onions

(Serves 4)

  • 4 russet or ‘sweet’ potatoes
  • 2 tbsps olive oil
  • 1 large onion, finely sliced

Cook for 5 minutes, adding the lemon juice and seasonings, then pour in enough hot water to just cover the potatoes and cook for 15 minutes.

Put the lid on the pan and return to the oven for another 15 minutes, until the potatoes are golden and cooked through.

Remove from the oven and drain the potatoes, reserving the water, and let them cool completely before serving.
