The easiest way to sit and concentrate on your yoga postures is by sitting on a mat.
This is a common practice in the West, which brings us to the question: How can one possibly get a yoga session done on the carpet?
If the answer is yes, then just take your mats to the backyard, the bedroom, or the kitchen and do your practices there.
This is ideal because of the heat produced by several animals and their activities, as well as due to the presence of pets, dust, and allergens that are relatively out of control.
The mat is also easy to clean and can be hung outside when you are done.
The alternative is to buy a mat that is specifically made for yoga. You can look at the top trending mats from Veda or Amazon.
These mats are expensive but have a lot of features such as flexion control. Another issue is the comfort and durability of a yoga mat.
If it bends and bends often, it may cause a backache.
A good-looking mat will look much better in your home than a cheap mat, which may look out of place.
Carpet is a wonderful material for yoga practice
It is soft and cozy, doesn’t absorb moisture, and promotes a sense of grounding and grounding of mind.
However, not all carpets are equally soft and comfortable.
Many people feel anxious or inhibited in carpeted areas and don’t feel like they can really do yoga.
What I like to do is to have carpeting in my home’s areas where I need more physical or psychological support.
If you are one of these people, here is a simple way to find a comfortable place to do yoga on the carpet.
Traditionally, you would do yoga on a mat placed on the floor, and this is not a bad way to do yoga.
The only drawback is that you cannot fold the mat up and bring it with you anywhere.
It’s not easy to bring a large mat to a cafe and easily fold it up and move around unless you have a yoga locker at your favorite cafe.
And then there is the issue of durability.
Many people put their yoga mats away for the year at the end of the summer because the hot, humid weather conditions in fall and winter get rid of your favorite mat.
Enter the mat cushion
I have a mat cushion. I first used one many years ago when I was trying to find a way to be comfortable while doing yoga without a mat, and this mat cushion has been with me for the last ten years.
If you’ve never used one of these, you can think of it as a yoga mat in its cushion form.
The mat cushion is a nice and cushy layer of material that fits underneath a yoga mat to provide a soft, supportive surface for your back, neck, and other parts of the body while you are practicing yoga.
The mat cushion can also double as a barrier to you not doing the appropriate poses, as well.
A mat cushion is easy to maneuver, easy to get in the position you want, easy to fold up when you are done, and carry with you anywhere you need.
Typically, you need one to each of the three feet in your yoga practice. Here are two different versions of mat cushions.
Plywood or steel mat cushion
This version of the mat cushion has a very hardwood or steel plate covered with a thin layer of polyurethane.
The plate has a lip around the edges so that you can get in and out of the mat cushion easily.
The plate is made of acrylic but is extremely durable.
The polymer layer is soft and comfortable. It’s great for a chilled yoga space in the fall and winter or heated yoga practice in the summer.
The material is easy to clean and has a high breathability rate.
The hard plates and the polyurethane layer separate the cushion from the mat. If you decide to go with a metal mat instead of a hard mat, you can swap the metal piece for soft polyurethane.
But then the other good news is that you can remove the plate or the polyurethane layer.
The mat can be folded up and stored away, freeing up space under the mat cushion for other projects.
The magnetic clip that holds the mat cushion in place allows you to clip the mat on when you need to wear it like a slipper or do a downward-facing dog on top of it.
The slipper look is great for beginners.
It also comes with a drawer that you can use to store your other yoga cushions.
Yoga mat cushion
If you prefer a softer, more cushioned cushion for your mat, this is the version for you.
It is a similar construction to the plywood or steel version, with a hard polyurethane rubber skin over a flexible mat, but this version has an all-leather seat pad that you sit on.
The cushion can be removed to wash and dry, and the cover can be put back on when you are done to provide a place to sit or to be seated while you are on your mat.
When you sit on the cushion you have a cozy, yet supportive seat to support your body while you are in the poses.
The fabric is much more comfortable to sit on, the fabric allows your weight to be distributed more evenly and the removable material is a nice bonus.
The cushion has built-in magnets to hold it in place when you fold it up, and it’s removable if you want to wear it like a slipper or take it off during a hot yoga session and wear your regular yoga mat.
