Let’s start with a summary of what being good means:
Being good in yoga is more than simply doing things right.
Being good means that you are making a conscious effort to improve in yoga, regardless of how long you have been practicing.
So, first of all, let’s take a closer look at what exactly being good means.
How can we measure our performance? How can we be more aware of our effort, our practice, and our progress?
In other words, how can we develop being good into a habit?
How to be good at yoga
Using one word to describe a particular activity, such as doing yoga, is too easy, and too lazy. If you want to be good at yoga, try using the following:
Being
By using this word, we are getting to the core of what it means to be good at something.
It’s like describing the difference between a good impression and a really good one.
It’s less about what you’re doing and more about how you are doing it.
When you are using the word being, you’re describing that you have the attitude of doing what you want and not letting anything stop you.
The word coming from the Latin verb “to be” meaning to be here, at this moment, to be here for a specific period of time.
The word being can also mean to stop and wait for something.
Let’s say you want to practice in the morning for one week and be good at it.
You say to yourself, “My goal is to be good at yoga in the morning.”
From that point, you start to imagine how you can reach that goal, and you start to believe that being good in yoga is possible.
To achieve the goal, you just have to act
The goal itself is a byproduct of your actions.
By changing your mental state, you can change the reality you see. When you can change the reality you see, you can change your practice.
When you believe you are good at something, you do things differently. You move faster, more passionately, with more confidence, and with less hesitation.
You have the attitude of doing what you want and not letting anything stop you.
Using being as the objective to measure your yoga practice is the most simple, direct, and accurate way to improve your yoga.
And, once you can make yourself good at yoga, you can develop your life and career. Being good in yoga is the secret of being good in life.
You can apply the same approach to any type of learning or development.
Want to be a better person? How about learning how to forgive more easily? Want to improve your financial status?
How about improving your ability to meet and be in touch with people? How about mastering a new skill?
Or, be good at learning something different?
The core idea is always to start with the question:
How can I change what I do, how can I see the world differently, how can I act differently? And then you start acting differently.
Only when you start acting differently, you start improving. This is the same process every time you want to learn something or go somewhere new.
Over the years, I have discovered that it is the same mindset that I need in every stage of my life.
I have to be myself at the moment.
And you can be too, but you need to decide to.
Being good in yoga is not about being right and being nice, being perfect, and being courageous. Being good in yoga is being you, the real you.
Being good in yoga is about being with yourself, at the moment, doing what you want, and letting nothing stop you.
You must master is the control of your breathing
It may sound funny, but it’s true.
In yoga, you will be required to breathe regularly throughout the session. It may sound a bit weird but it’s true.
While performing yoga poses, make sure that you breathe regularly, because, after all, you can’t perform a yoga pose without breathing properly.
So, all you have to do is to take your deep breath and hold it. This is one of the best ways to be good at yoga.
Now, on to the next point.
Let’s say that you don’t want to be too loose while practicing poses. But, the pose is more difficult for you than for other people.
So, how do you overcome this situation?
It’s a good practice to visualize how your body will look after the pose is done.
Also, before the pose starts, start to clear your mind by meditating and picture the breathing techniques.
Meditate!
In yoga, you can never succeed without meditating. It’s a practice that can help you to stay focused and concentrate on the pose.
Also, you can picture the ultimate goal of the pose. This will help you to stay focused throughout the duration of the yoga session.
And now, the last point, we move onto the muscles which have to be kept in shape.
It’s normal to feel a little bit insecure when you practice yoga poses. Even the very best yogis do.
But it’s perfectly fine to feel a bit insecure while performing yoga poses.
In this case, the best thing that you can do is to feel free. Just feel free and don’t worry about what you have to learn or not to learn.
We must also remember to stay focused throughout the session.
Always remember that you have to focus on the pose that you are performing.
