Even with the retirement crisis that many people are facing, many still choose to go into the workforce.
With increased opportunity comes a greater demand for labor. According to a recent study by The Balance, Americans will work an average of 1,633 hours in 2018, the highest figure since 2000.
This means that for the average American worker to live the average life expectancy, he or she needs to work about 87.5 years.
With today’s improved job market, many workers can spend more time with their families.
However, there are still quite a few jobs out there that allow you to spend time with family.
If you’re struggling to balance your life and work, it can be a great idea to look into these great jobs that allow you to spend time with your family.
1. Bus driver
Let’s face it. Transportation has a lot to do with stress, and most people, don’t have much choice in the matter.
Unfortunately, buses, trains, or airplanes aren’t always on time, and that means that many families are missing out on precious time with their loved ones.
Instead of being trapped on a bus, you can spend some time with your family, especially if you’re heading to the airport, sporting event, or any other destination.
Many people aren’t used to having many responsibilities, but when you do, you see how much of a difference a little time can make.
2. Realtor
If you’ve been looking to sell your home, you may want to consider working as a Realtor.
While this may be a rewarding job, it is also stressful. Instead of putting yourself under constant pressure, consider working in the service sector.
For example, if you work in a restaurant, there are plenty of aspects that you’ll have to handle, including hiring, firing, and much more.
However, most service sector jobs involve being around people.
If you don’t enjoy speaking with people, you may find that being a waiter isn’t for you.
If, on the other hand, you enjoy speaking with people, you may enjoy the service sector.
However, just because you don’t enjoy speaking with people, doesn’t mean that you can’t work in the service sector.
If you are willing to go above and beyond, you may be able to find a job that is much better suited for you.
3. Pharmacist
Many people would do almost anything for their families, and a good example is a pharmacist.
As a pharmacy, you can spend time with your family in a variety of ways.
If you’re a manager, you can work with families to schedule treatment or preventative care.
If you’re not a manager, you can be a retail pharmacist, or even work in the laboratory.
This is a great way to spend time with family, especially if you want to prevent their sickness, or to catch any problems early.
4. Housekeeper
For some, a housekeeper is more than just a cleaner.
Rather, they work closely with the families and really get to know each family member.
Rather than just coming home from work, you can stop by the house and hang out with the kids.
You can bring them a treat, or play games with them, or you can simply spend time with them.
Many families today don’t spend a lot of time with their children, and this may be part of the reason they’re getting older so quickly.
So, if you’re able to spend time with the kids, you could easily have one of the most rewarding careers in 2018.
5. Programmer
Programming is a pretty rewarding career, but many people simply aren’t interested in getting a degree.
If you want to work in this field, you may want to consider programming.
This requires a lot of hard work and dedication, but if you have the drive, it can be very rewarding.
For example, let’s say that you spend a few hours a day programming.
This could mean that you work from 10 am to 3 pm, but also from 7 am to 5 pm.
You’ll put in at least 8 hours of programming a day, but even so, you’re working a 9-5 job.
Many people don’t have the drive to do this, so they need to find another way to get the work done.
This is a great way to spend time with family, as you won’t just be working a 9-5 job, but you’ll also be making a difference in the lives of others.
6. Dentist
If you’d like to be a dentist, but feel that this isn’t a career for you, you may want to reconsider.
Like many other types of professions, this requires you to know a lot about the world.
A lot of dentists specialize in certain areas and will spend their time in school focusing on this.
You can learn the world’s dental knowledge as a dentist, even if you don’t plan on specializing.
This is a very rewarding career, and you’ll spend a lot of time with family in this field.
