I use this term and the positive traits associated with it, but not to treat myself in any way.
Self-love is a concept I struggle with, therefore this article is just one way I’ve come to accept and understand it.
Self-love is not to be confused with narcissism. While some people take the love for themselves too far, it is a healthy way of viewing life and living.
Self-love is different from how we define love in society. We only have one body and as much as we love our children and family, it’s just not the same.
But in the context of this article, it is my definition and my ideal for life. It’s one of positivity, self-respect, and being your absolute best.
Self-love is accepting yourself with your flaws and fears and loving you as a person no matter what
It’s not focused on being perfect and not making mistakes, but simply learning from them and moving forward.
To be self positive, you must be self-aware. You must take responsibility for your thoughts and actions.
You must know what motivates you and helps keep you motivated.
You must be comfortable with who you are and what you’re able to do.
I must be more aware of my thoughts and know if they are toxic or positive. You must have a good self-image, but not one of arrogance.
To be self-conscious is to care what other people think of you and how you perceive yourself.
To be self-loved is to realize that people love you as you are, flaws and all
You must care only for the type of people who love you for you, and not what they think of you.
Self-love means being comfortable with who you are and what you do. You must know your strengths and weaknesses.
You must know what you’re capable of doing and what you can’t. You must be honest with yourself.
You must love yourself and accept yourself as you are. This requires a lot of work, honesty, and knowing who you are and your abilities.
But you must not forget to love yourself, you have to love yourself before you can love others. Love yourself as you are now and can be. You must look at yourself and know you are the perfect you.
You’re more than perfect. You are a beautiful person with a great mind, so don’t believe the hype.
You are a creative thinker, innovative, intuitive, and someone who has the ability to put others before yourself.
You have to learn to love yourself before others can.
How to accomplish self-love
You can do all the work you want, but if you’re not present, if you’re not feeling or appreciating life as it is, then you can’t expect to change it.
You have to be focused on how to love yourself and what the true meaning of life is. If you’re not happy in your life, then you can’t expect to be happy.
Try to be more positive about yourself. Let yourself enjoy life. Find ways to be happy.
If you’re not happy, then why are you trying so hard? For me, self-love requires an appreciation for everything I do and say.
I have to respect myself and accept the person I am, faults and all.
I also have to remind myself that when I start to sound too negative, I have to stop myself and instead think of something positive.
Sometimes we just have to practice positive self-talk.
One of my favorite positive self-talk tools is making myself thankful.
I make a list of things I’m thankful for and why I’m thankful. It works because it brings back the happiness and positive mindset we all need.
Take some time out to help yourself. Some of the self-help methods are spending time with your family or getting a massage.
You can also meditate. Just make sure you are getting time for yourself.
One thing I do is make myself aware of when I start to have negative thoughts. I say a sentence that is meant to be negative and then I turn it around.
If you’re stressed, you say something positive, like “I’m calm”. If you’re hungry, you say something positive, like “I have food to eat”.
Or when you start to complain, you say something positive, like “I have many reasons to be happy”. It makes you think and keeps you in positive thoughts.
It also helps if you try a few phrases like the ones I’m about to share. It helps get your mind in positive thinking.
Use a word filter
A word filter is a technique that involves cutting up a random set of words into as many groups as possible so that you never have to read a word more than once.
In other words, a word filter would let you read the word “fox”, but not “coyote”, and read “cow” but not “badger”.
You might know about a word filter program for computers, but there are also free word filters that work in your email or social networks.
The word filter works by analyzing the words and phrases you use and discarding the rest.
You might think you’re using the right word, but it may not be the right word for your particular situation.
When you’re used to thinking negatively and making excuses for others, it’s easy to find yourself saying the same things over and over again, believing that this is how everyone thinks.
Words have power. The negative ones are the most powerful, so they need to be filtered out.
